Terms of Service

Last updated: July 9, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and CodeArcade (“CodeArcade,” “we,” “us”) covering your use of the CodeArcade website, apps, and services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

Beta software

CodeArcade is in beta. That means real, honest limits: features may change, break, or be removed; exercises and projects are generated with the help of AI and machine-checked before you see them, but the occasional bad item can still slip through (there’s a one-tap “report” on every exercise for exactly this reason); and we may have downtime. The Service is provided “as is,”without warranties of any kind. We’re building in the open and fixing things quickly, but you use a beta at your own risk.

Your account

You sign in with a one-time email “magic link” or with Google. You’re responsible for keeping access to your email/Google account secure, and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country) to use CodeArcade. One person per account; don’t share credentials.

What you can and can’t do

Use CodeArcade to learn. Don’t abuse it: no attacking or overloading our systems, no scraping the exercise bank at scale, no reselling or redistributing generated content as your own product, no attempting to defeat the energy meter, rate limits, referral guards, or entitlement checks, and nothing illegal. Code you write and run executes in your own browser (via Pyodide) or in a sandbox; you’re responsible for the code you write. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the Service or these terms.

Your content and our content

Your work stays yours. The code you write, the projects you build, and the portfolio artifacts you choose to publish belong to you. By publishing a project to a public portfolio page you grant us a limited license to host and display it. You can make a portfolio project private or delete your account at any time.

The curriculum, generated exercises, hints, lessons, and the software itself are ours (or our licensors’) and are provided for your personal learning use. AI-assisted tutoring and generation can be imperfect — verify anything important; it is not professional advice.

Subscriptions, trials, and billing

The core of CodeArcade is free forever: the entire skill tree, every banked exercise with real test feedback, streaks, XP, and remediation. We charge for capability, never for locking away content. Paid plans:

  • Pro — $29/month or $199/year. Removes the free-tier energy meter and adds included monthly streak repair and placement acceleration.
  • Max — $49/month or $349/year. Everything in Pro plus the AI-native features: unlimited tutoring, fresh interest-themed generation on demand, every capstone project with senior-engineer review, and mastery analytics.

Free trials. Annual plans include a card-required 7-day free trial (monthly plans have no trial). You may start a trial once, ever. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid annual subscription and your card is charged. We email you a reminder about 2 days before the trial converts, with a one-click cancel link — so it never sneaks up on you. Cancel in time and you pay nothing.

Renewals and cancellation.Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel in one click, any time, from Settings — no retention gauntlet. When you cancel you keep full paid access until the end of the period you already paid for; we never cut you off early. You can upgrade tier (e.g. Pro → Max) in the app, prorated; downgrades take effect at the end of your current period via the billing portal.

Refunds. Email support@codearcade within 7 days of any charge and we refund it in full, no questions asked.

Payment failures. If a renewal payment fails, you keep full paid access during a 7-day grace window while you sort out your card — a failed payment is not an instant lockout.

Downgrading never deletes your work.If you cancel or a subscription lapses, every exercise you’ve done, project you’ve built, streak, and XP stays yours on the free tier. Downgrade is never confiscation. In-game gems and items are earned, never sold, and have no cash value.

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply.

Referrals

If you share your referral link and a friend signs up and passes their first exercise, you both get a free week of Pro, subject to the anti-abuse rules described on the referral panel (no self-referrals; a yearly cap). We may withhold rewards we believe are gamed or fraudulent.

Cancellation and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. If you have an active paid subscription with our payment provider, cancel it first so we stop billing your card, then delete.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CodeArcade is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $50 if you’re on the free tier). Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product grows. If we make a material change we’ll update the date above and, where reasonable, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
